Care & Finish
A spoon that ages, not wears
These spoons are finished in food-safe walnut oil and beeswax. Cared for simply, they deepen in color and feel better in the hand over the years — the opposite of a disposable utensil.
Wash by hand
Warm water, mild soap, a soft cloth. Never the dishwasher — heat and soak warp and split the grain.
Dry promptly
Don’t let a spoon sit in the sink or stand in water. Towel it off and let it air the rest of the way.
Re-oil occasionally
When the wood looks dry or pale, rub in a little food-safe mineral oil or walnut oil, let it sit, then buff.
Use it often
A spoon that’s used and oiled develops a deep, even patina. A spoon kept in a drawer does not.

The Finish
Food-safe walnut oil & beeswax
Every spoon leaves the bench sealed in a food-safe walnut oil and beeswax finish. It’s tasteless, odorless, and fully safe for cooking use. To refresh it, a thin coat of mineral oil or walnut oil every few months is all that’s needed.
Avoid nut-based oils if there’s an allergy in the house — mineral oil works just as well and never goes rancid.
